Challenge Question #1.
A fungal pathogen discovered to be responsible for 'sudden oak death' was carried somehow to the U.S. from overseas and was identified in Marin County in 1995 as Phytophthora ramorum. The fungus has killed tens of thousands of oak trees in northern California.
Does this virulent organism restrict its devastation to oak trees? |
Challenge Question #2.
In February 2003 NASA's 2001 space probe called Mars Odyssey provided positive proof that there is water ice at the Mars' south pole.
