Explorit Science Center Weekly Column
This page contains the material submitted to the local paper - The Davis Enterprise - for Explorit Science Center's news column published in that paper on Fridays.
Date: March 19, 2010 Author: Peter Willson Explorit addresses concerns over summer program When faced with the 300-pound purple elephant in the room, 'Will Explorit hold their summer camp program?' Peter Willson the Director of Marketing and Development answered with a firm, "Yes." Willson advised that things are moving forward at Explorit. "Although we still need support for the long term sustainability of Explorit, families should have absolutely no concern over registering for our summer camp program." When asked if he had heard of families hesitating to register based on the uncertainty of Explorit's future Willson commented, "I have read a few posts on Facebook and I have fielded a couple of phone calls, but I can tell you I quite a few registration forms already turned in as families secure their spot by the April 16 random drawing for summer camp classes." He added, "I understand the hesitation families may have. All the attention and publicity surrounding Explorit lately has focused on our financial struggles, but these concerns, at least in the short term, have been resolved." The summer camp program guides have been sent out in both the Davis Joint Unified School District and the Washington Unified School District earlier this week. Summer camp guides were also mailed out to Explorit members and past campers earlier this week.
