Author: Lindsay Poss Explorit throws party for members -- and potential members “I have not visited another facility in California that has had the same impact on so many children on such a personalized level,” says Natalie Couch, a Sacramento resident and two-year member of Explorit. The science center is throwing an “Appreciation Party” next Friday, June 5, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at our Second Street location to honor our members like Couch and her family. This annual event is open to not only current members but also to community members who are interested in checking out what our memberships have to offer. Guests will enjoy free pizza, courtesy of Woodstock’s; one-on-one time with our Summer Science Camp educators; and a preview of our new exhibition, “I Wonder.” So don’t be shy and RSVP by Friday, May 29, to Lindsay Poss, membership coordinator, at lindsay@explorit.org. If you are not yet a member, you may be wondering why local families decide to join Explorit Science Center. The reasons vary from family to family, but most join for one of our great benefits: • Free admission to Explorit Science Center year-round. Members enjoy discovering the array of science presented through our quarterly changing and permanent exhibitions. Members also get the satisfaction of knowing that their money partially supports science education for children in preschool through 6th grade, many of whom are not receiving this curriculum in their classrooms due to cuts in local school district budgets. Bring your children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors to Explorit Science Center on June 5 to see how we can benefit your family year-round in a fun yet educational way. You’ll come to realize you don’t have to leave Davis to have an exciting and meaningful time away from home with your family – we’re right down the street. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Explorit Science Center has two exhibitions running: “The Energy Story” (running until May 25) and “Move It! Science in Action. Admission is $4 general, free for ages 3 and under. The museum is open from 2-4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Explorit is at 2801 Second Street, Davis. For more information: (530) 756-0191 or www.explorit.org. |
