Special to the Enterprise

This May 4th, be a force for good in our community by participating in Big Day of Giving and investing in a new hope for your favorite nonprofits. Big Day of Giving is a 24-hour charitable giving challenge that has raised over $16 million dollars for local organizations in the past few years.

Big Day of Giving aims to expand local philanthropy, highlight the excellent and critical work being done by local nonprofits and raise some much-need unrestricted funds so that work can continue. Explorit Science Center is excited to participate once again in Big Day of Giving with nearly 400 other nonprofits.

All donations made to Explorit or other participating organizations on May 4 will not only directly benefit their work, but will make them eligible for matching funds and cash prizes, so each donation can go even further! Plus, this year, donors can schedule their gifts in advance instead of waiting until May 4 by visiting www.bigdayofgiving.org.

This year Explorit’s fundraising goal is $40,000 to help us invest in a new vehicle to expand our capacity to provide hands-on science programs at schools and community centers in 17 California counties. Explorit educators are constantly on the move, taking science exhibits and programs to classrooms and assembly rooms, often 50-100 miles away from our museum! Our aging fleet of cargo vans is in critical need of an update.

Consider giving to Explorit for this year’s Big Day of Giving to help achieve the goal of a new vehicle, help us continue to bring science education to where the kids and teachers need us and increase Explorit’s chances of winning cash prizes from the Big Day of Giving’s Incentive Pool. So have some fun with your giving and check out www.bigdayofgiving.org/prizes to see the full list of prizes that will be awarded.
