Special to the Enterprise

Sample some sweet science with Explorit Science Center at the Pence Gallery’s monthly Art After Dark event on Friday, July 7 where it will be all about honey. Stop by the Pence Gallery between 7:00-10:00 p.m. to join in the fun.

Enjoy honey tastings with local honey vendors while grooving to some awesome live music. Browse some bee-related art and be sure to stop by Explorit’s table to explore the science of bees and honey.

From the use of pesticides to colony collapse disorder, local bees are in danger. Learn what Explorit and other community organizations like Circle of Bees are doing to help.

Earlier this Spring, Explorit began hosting a beehive behind our museum. The bees have settled in and begun making Explorit their new home.

You can visit Explorit’s bees when you drop by our museum or take a stroll through Mace Ranch Park. Cruise through Explorit’s backyard to check out our pollinator watering station with landing stones so bees can get a refreshing drink without risk of drowning. What can you do to help support local bee populations?

Bees are an essential part of our local agricultural community. Discover their amazing features and adaptations that help them spread pollen, produce honey and make our world a better place.

Then wrap up the night by relaxing outside with a drink from Pence’s bar. This event is free and open to all ages. So sweeten your summer with some science and art fusion at Art After Dark.
