Special to the Enterprise

Powerful enough to burst pipes, split rocks, and even carve canyons, ice is one of the many winter wonders we’ll explore at Explorit’s Winter Science Family event. Discover how our world changes in winter and experiment with some of the coolest science around.

How do glaciers help shape landscapes? What can ice core samples tell us about environments of the past? Why do ice and snow sometimes appear blue to our eyes?

You can explore these and other chilly science questions at Explorit’s Winter Family Science days on Wednesday, December 26 or Friday, December 28 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. Spend some quality time with the whole family while digging into some science.

Explore how glaciers move, then try your hand at making glaciers of your own. Discover the many ways these glaciers have helped shape our world.

Study ice core samples to see what you can discover. Compare your results to tree rings and soil samples to experience many different ways scientists learn about our world and its past.

We’ll discover that ice is a powerful force that can teach us a lot about our world. Take a break from the hectic holidays and join Explorit for an afternoon of science discovery.

From the wonders of nature to chemistry and physics, winter has plenty to teach us about science. We’ll have tons of frosty fun for the whole family, including some crafts to take home.

These special events are $5 for members, $8 for non-members. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
