Special to the Enterprise

Get to know the planet we call home with a dynamic new exhibition about the forces that shape the Earth, coming to Explorit Science Center in Fall 2018. Dig beneath the surface with Earth Explorations to discover the Earth in a whole new way.

What secrets lie in the ground beneath our feet? How can wind, rain, ice or tectonic shifts make and move mountains? From weather to earthquakes, you can experiment with shaping and moving different landforms.

Shape the sand in our augmented reality sandbox, then wave your hands to make it rain and watch how things change. Can you control where the water goes? Or use the shake table to make an earthquake.

Explore rocks, minerals, fossils and much more. Discover what these items can tell us about our world.

If you are interested in helping to develop the “Earth Explorations” gallery exhibit please contact our volunteer coordinator at 530-756-0191 or explorit@explorit.org.

Plus, be sure to catch the Feathers in Your World exploration before it’s gone. This exhibition will be taking flight at the end of summer to make way for Earth Explorations.
