Explorit Science Center Receives Genentech 40th Anniversary Grant

Press Release April 7, 2016

Explorit Science Center supports STEM-related education through innovative, hands-on programs provided to over 30,000 students, their parents and teachers each year in schools throughout northern California with its traveling programs as well as its on-site programs in Davis.  These programs are essential in helping students achieve their full potential throughout their education as well as encouraging careers in STEM related fields and life-long learning.

Genentech’s generous grant of $100,000, celebrating its 40th Anniversary, will enable Explorit to achieve three major goals over the next 18 months:

  • Develop its next Community Science Project, “Feathers in Your World” that connects and engages people with feathers, science, technology and culture
  • Launch Science for Reading (“SciFR”) aimed improving reading and science awareness for pre school children in Solano and Yolo counties
  • Sponsorship to provide its school programs to several schools in Solano County and Vacaville community.

Students love learning most when they’re engaged.  Explorit’s program make science meaningful, fun, and interesting while encouraging critical thinking skills.  By partnering with and supporting Explorit, Genentech is helping to deepen and expand the childhood curiosity, critical thinking and teamwork skills that inspire everyday discoveries, make big dreams a reality and turn ideas into breakthroughs.
