Special to the Enterprise

Davis’s annual Tour de Cluck is almost upon us, that yearly bike tour of backyard chicken coops.  This afternoon you can start the festivities a little early at Explorit Science Center with our Family Exploration “Night before de Cluck,” part of the Community Science Project Feathers in Your World, a program sponsored by the Frank H. and Eva B. Buck Foundation and by Genentech.  Lots of fun activities, and yes chickens too!

At “Night before de Cluck” you can enjoy extended public hours in Explorit’s museum, plus explore feathers, experiment with eggs, meet live animals, make a chicken craft and learn more about the Tour de Cluck. As part of Explorit’s “Feathers in Your World” Community Science Project, we’ll feature hands-on feather activities and experiments.

Visiting guests will explain tomorrow’s “Tour de Cluck”. Learn about the Davis Farm to School Program and the Farm to Fork healthy life choices. Meet some chickens and learn how to get started with “clucks” in your own backyard!

Tour de Cluck is both an educational experience and a fundraiser for Davis Farm to School programs, providing for healthy options in schools lunches as well as supporting school gardens and recycling programs.

“Night before de Cluck” comes to Explorit on Friday, May 20 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Admission is free to Explorit members and with paid admission to the museum.

The Tour de Cluck will take place on Saturday, May 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visit www.tourdecluck.org for all the details and www.explorit.org to learn more about our Community Science Project Feathers in Your World.
