Special to the Enterprise

Celebrate the fall and winter seasons with Explorit this year by joining us for Special Seasonal Activity Afternoons. When school’s out, think Explorit.

When autumn leaves are falling, it’s time to make some art and discover the amazing anatomy of plants on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 21 and 22. Drop by our public hours from 1:00-5:00 p.m. to make a seasonal leaf craft, free with paid admission to the museum.

It’s all about leaves, seeds and plants in November. Create “animal leaf art”, leaf rubbings and more. Learn how trees change in fall and why.

On Wednesday, December 27 we turn our attention to snow. Make your own snow globe, analyze snowflakes and learn about the importance of Sierra snowmelt to plant, animals and people in our region.

And on Wednesday, January 3, start your new year off with a blast. Celebrate the new year with explosive activities. Enjoy exciting fun with rockets, chemistry and more.

Each of these special public hours days includes science-themed craft projects, free with paid admission to the museum, a brief science talk and/or demonstration by an Explorit educator on the top of every hour and an up-close encounter with an Explorit animal at the bottom of every hour.
