Feathers are amazing items. They can protect a bird from the cold or from getting wet. They can sustain a bird’s flight, and they can even be useful to people.

Visit Explorit Science Center’s latest exhibition Feathers in Your World to learn more about these natural wonders and their many functions. From their evolution to their roles in the lives of birds and humans, there’s much to explore.

How did feathers come to be? Explore the feathery connection between modern birds and their dinosaur ancestors. Participate in a paleontological dig to reveal fossil evidence of prehistoric feathers.

Dive into the journey of a migratory bird with the migration game. A role of the dice could take you safely home, or towards one of the many hazards migratory birds face. Will you survive migration?

And try your hand at a quill pen, just one of many ways we humans have made use of feathers. Use our home-made oak gall ink to write a special message.

These are just a few of the many fun hands-on science activities that await you at Explorit. So make a visit to your neighborhood science center one of your 2018 resolutions.
