Spooky Science Haunts Explorit's Lab

When darkness falls, the spooks come out at Explorit Science Center! Add a little Halloween science to your fall festivities this year and drop by Spooky Science Night on Saturday, October 24 when our museum will transform into a wild and ghostly scientist’s lab!

Discover what lurks beneath the surface by testing different slimes in the Goo Room. Experience the thrills and chills of chemistry as you experiment with states of matter.

Take a blood bath in our sensory bin to discover the different roles of red and white blood cells, platelets and plasma!

Or venture into the Wacky Workshop for an electrifying good time. Charge up a storm and experience indoor lightning, just don’t get zapped. It’s shocking good fun! But don’t be fooled by the science of magic. You may not be able to trust your eyes with our optical illusions.

Pay a visit to the inhabitants of the Kingdom of the Spider—if you dare! They’re creepy, they’re crawly, and there’re here just to meet you.

Make sparks in the dark lab and witness amazing color transformations in black light. You’ll be amazed at the glow! Or use some spooky sounds to make a sound track for a graveyard excavation or some ghost busting.

Or for a spine-tingling thrill, explore some of what the dead leave behind. You just may be surprised at what you find! From bones to feathers to antlers, there’s much to explore.

Put your investigation skills to work at a crime scene and see if you can solve the case of the missing millionaire. Collect evidence, use science to analyze clues, and build your case!

Or take advantage of the darkness to explore the night sky with an astronomy viewing and constellation station. This family friendly event is appropriate for all ages and open to the public on Saturday, October 24, 6:00-8:00 p.m. The cost is $5 per person; tickets are available at the door.

But if you’re a Girl Scout, you are invited to our special Girl Scout Spooky Science Night on Friday, October 23, 7:00-10:00 p.m. We will cover two requirements for the Home Scientist Brownie badge. This event is open to scouts of all ages, and each participant will get a special spooky patch! The cost is $7 per person and you can register online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2375693. Register soon; the event is limited to 200 people.

Don’t miss this spooktacular science event!
