Special to the Enterprise
Explorit Science Center has an exciting slate of upcoming Spring activities! From celebrations of events such as Pi Day and Earth Day to opportunities for charitable giving, there will be lots of ways to add science to your Spring.
International Darwin Day, the celebration of scientist Charles Darwin’s birthday on February 12, is fast approaching. This year marks the 218th anniversary of his birth, an event which will be celebrated around the world, including right here in Davis.
Pi Day, that annual celebration of the mathematical constant represented by 𝜋, is coming this March. Traditionally observed on March 14 (3/14), Pi Day raises awareness of the geometry affecting our daily lives, from the revolution of a bicycle wheel to the slicing of a pizza. Join Explorit for a day of special math activities and exhibits.
And don’t miss the conjunction of Earth Day and U.C. Davis’s Picnic Day all in one on Saturday, April 22! There will be lots of ways to celebrate and help protect our planet, while exploring its many wonders.
Plus, get ready for the return of the Big Day of Giving on Thursday, May 4. The Big Day of Giving is a 24-hour online donation challenge to help raise money for local non-profits, encouraging donors to give locally, where their hearts are. You can help Explorit by contributing to a matching fun in advance of May 4, or participating in the challenge on the day to help us compete for additional financial gifts.
Information about all of these and other fun, science events will be coming to www.explorit.org. So mark your calendars now and stay tuned for all the details!
