Special to the Enterprise

Explorit Science Center has some sizzling science events planned to keep your family exploring all summer long.

First, join us in catching the peak of this year’s Perseid Meteor Shower on the evening of August 12. The Perseid Meteor Shower is an annual astronomical event that fills the sky with as many as 60 meteors per hour during the peak.

The Perseids appear to come from the direction of the constellation Perseus, which is where they get their name. Widely visible in the Northern Hemisphere, this meteor shower lasts several weeks in July and August, but usually peaks between August 9-14.

Then, save the date of Saturday, August 18, 6:30-8:00 p.m. for a special evening of hands-on science at Explorit as one of our flagship Family Science Nights makes a rare appearance at our museum. Explorit has been providing Family Science Nights at schools and community groups all over Northern and Central California for more than a decade.

But on August 18, you’ll have a chance to experience this program for yourself right in Explorit’s museum at 3141 5th St. in Davis. Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity.

And wrap up your summer at Explorit’s End-of-Summer Celebration on Saturday, September 8, 5:00-8:00 p.m. An evening of food, fun and science will send you back into the school year.

More details about each of these events, including pricing and times, will be available soon at www.explorit.org. We hope to see you this summer!
