Visitors examine things magnified 100 times by the probe microscope which displays on a color monitor.
This is one of the few aspects of Explorit's public space that is a permanent feature. Visitors can video-tape and narrate their experiences with this equipment - and take the narrated videotape away with them.
The fibre optic microscope system was obtained with a grant from The T.B. Walker Foundation.

A young visitor quetly enjoys a visit in the original Discovery Den.
This area was designed for the whole family and was intended to feel comfortable and home-like, but was crammed with science in ways that emphasized that science is an integral part of our everyday lives.
The animal quarters were obtained with a grant from the S.H. Cowell Foundation.
