Camp Descriptions:

Animal Adventures. Grades K-2
Come explore Mace Ranch Park, and learn which wild animals call it home.  Spend time using all of your senses to help you observe the behaviors of the various animals that we encounter.  Learn to track and locate animals using signs that they leave behind.  We will also meet, and spend time observing various reptiles, amphibians, insects, and arachnids that call Explorit home.

Earth Explorations. Grades K-4
What forces help shape our earth?  Come learn how wind and rain can change a mounting, watch how water changes the landscape, and build a structure that can survive our earthquake shake table.  Learn how geologists study rocks and minerals, and how fossils can help us look into the past.

Wild and Wonderful Animal Behavior. Grades 3-6
Come learn more about animals and their behavior.  Take an in depth look at how animals survive in Mace Ranch Park and elsewhere.  How do they acquire food, water, and shelter, while coexisting with their human neighbors?  Why do some animals thrive in the park/neighborhood, while others stay away?  We will also meet, and spend time observing the various reptiles, amphibians, insects, and arachnids that call Explorit home.

Map It! Grades 4-6
Mapping, geocaching, and orienteering, Oh My!  Campers will learn how to read a compass, maps, and how to orient themselves.  They will search for and discover a nearby geocache, and will also make their own map of Mace Ranch Park!

To the Stars and Beyond! Grades 6-10
Explore the wonders of the universe from the sun, moon, and planets in our solar system to the stars, galaxies, and black holes in the vastness beyond in this engaging hands-on astronomy, rocketry, and stargazing experience!

Explorit Camp Policies

What to Bring, What to Wear

All programs include outdoor components and will go on regardless of the heat. Campers must bring their own reusable water bottle. Children will have access to drinking fountains all day. Have children wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes. Our hands-on activities are potentially messy but always fun. Comfortable clothes are advised – and consider sending sunscreen and a hat.

Food/Allergies

All campers must bring their own snacks and lunches. Also, some camps have food provided as part of the activities. To avoid possible allergic reactions, parents must complete the medical part of the Registration Form as thoroughly as possible.

On Mondays: Check in begins at 8:30am and camp begins at 9am. Parents/guardians will sign children in at the sign-in table and provide Explorit with names of any adults who will be picking their children up during the week. Camp ends at noon.  Please be prepared to pick up on time. Parents/guardians please be prepared to show your photo ID when picking up.

On Tuesday-Friday: Check in begins at 8:45am and camp begins at 9am. Parents/guardians will sign children in directly at their classrooms.

For pick up, which takes place in the classroom, parents/guardians must sign out each child at the end of each day of camp. Parents may complete a permission slip to allow children to walk or bicycle to and from camp.

Behavior Policy

Be safe, be respectful, be responsible, have fun! All children are expected to listen to educators and assistants and to treat other children and materials with respect. Explorit may call parents during the day if a child is injured, experiencing difficulty adjusting to camp, or has been involved in an incident with another child.

Late Pick-Up Policy

A late pick up policy is enforced in all camps. Parents who are late to pick up their children after the program is over at noon will be charged the following amounts:

  • 1 - 10 minutes late: no charge
  • 11 - 20 minutes late: $5.00
  • 21 - 30 minutes late: $15.00
  • 31 minutes to 1 hour late: $25.00
  • After 1 hour late:  $50.00, and the Police Department will be notified, if parents have not already contacted program staff.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of registration. Explorit accepts Visa or Mastercard. Fees cannot be pro-rated due to absences or vacation schedules.

Waiting List

Once maximum enrollment is reached for a camp, you will be given the option to add your child to a waiting list. If space becomes available in the camp, we will contact those on the list in the order that they were originally added. If a camp is full, consider adding your child to the waiting list.

Registration

Camp registration closes one week prior to the start of each camp. Camps that do not fill to a minimum of 10 campers will be cancelled with a full refund.

Member Discount

Explorit Family, Grandparent, and Circle Memberships that are current are eligible for a discount on summer camp fees. You may renew your membership or purchase a new membership before you register for camps in order to receive membership pricing.

Scholarships

Explorit offers a limited number of scholarships for Summer Camps based on significant financial need. To apply for a scholarship please download an application from here. You will need to submit documentation of current income with your application.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel a camp, you must do so by 3:30 p.m. on May 31 to receive a full credit or refund. After May 31 all registrations are final. If you cancel a camp after May 31, we will try to fill your space from a wait list. If we succeed, you will receive a refund minus a $15 processing fee per camp. You may sell your space independently, but the new registrant’s information must be submitted to Explorit one week before the camp starts.
