Volunteer positions
A partial listing of volunteer positions with descriptions
- Summer Camp Assistant
- Help during our popular camps, which are
held weekday mornings. Some afternoon shifts are available to help with
our Extended Day program. At least a two-week commitment is required.
- Science Teaching Assistant
- Help an Explorit educator in presenting programs to visiting school groups.
- Public Hours Volunteer
- Assist Explorit staff during our public hours with activites ranging from greeting visitors at the reception desk to checking out "Binquiry" activity bins.
- Exhibit Assistant
- Assist in planning and fabricating interactive hands-on exhibits.
- Explorit Store Volunteer
- Join the Friends of Explorit and help oversee operation of the Explorit Store.
- Administrative Volunteer
- Work "behind the scenes" in answering phones and performing assorted clerical duties including word processing and mailing
- Science Consultant
- Provide expertise to staff and the general public through Family Explorations programs and other scheduled events.
- Special Events Assistant
- Help plan and implement Explorit special events and fund-raisers. Artist
- Paint temporary murals on the exhibit hall walls when the exhibits change every several months.
- Skilled Craftspersons/Tinkerers
- Work with exhibit staff on exhibit fabrication. Special skills might include: cabinetry, metal work, electrical engineering, etc. Some work would need to occur off-site using your own tools/machines.
- Photographer
- Work with the Marketing Department to shoot digital images of Explorit programs and events. Must collect written permssion of people being photographed.
