Birthday: 1939, Brentford, Essex, England
John Frederick Vine was educated at London and at St Johns College Cambridge. He became professor of environmental sciences at the University of East Anglia. With D.H. Matthews he developed the Vine-Matthews hypothesis confirming an earlier hypothesis concerning continental drift and seafloor spreading.
