Arthur Young was a farmer and wrote extensively about farming in various parts of England, Ireland and France. In 1784 he started the Annals of Agriculture continuing with that publication until 1815. Young's importance is in his contribution to increasing knowledge and understanding of agricultural science. He was made Secretary to the Board of Agriculture in 1793.
