Florence Rena Sabin (Medicine)

Florence Sabin graduated from Smith College and then was the first woman to graduate in medicine from Johns Hopkins. She was also the first woman to join the medical faculty there. Sabin studied the
lymphatic system, blood cells, and blood vessels, monocytes, and the way the
immune system responds to the tuberculosis bacillus. By 1919 she had determined
the embryonic origin of red blood corpuscles.
