Sheldon Lee Glashow (Physics)
Birthday; 1932, New York, NY, USA
Sheldon Lee Glashow graduated from Cornell and Harvard. He
shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics for his part in developing (1960) a
theory explaining electromagnetic force and weak nuclear force. The theory
predicted the existence of the weak neutral currents which were discovered in
1973. Later, Glashow predicted the existence of a fourth type of quark (charm).
It was found in 1974.
