Support your local science museum

This article first appeared in the 9/4/20 edition of the Davis Enterprise.

As our doors remain closed due to COVID-19, Explorit needs your help now more than ever. There are a number of ways you can continue to support your small, local science center. Continue to support Explorit during this uncertain time by becoming a member.  Membership grants you free visits to Explorit’s regular public hours when we reopen, discounts on events, camps, and workshops, and gives you ASTC benefits to visit other museums throughout the world.  For more information or to purchase or renew your membership visit or call Explorit at 530-756-0191. Explorit is offering afternoon Fall Camps to help enrich you student’s science learning while schools are in a digital learning format.  The camps will be two hours a day and run for a full week.  Time blocks are 12:30-2:30pm for students in grades K-2, and 3:30-5:30pm for students in grades 3-6 and a Friday evening astronomy series for grades 6-10.  Fee for camps are $100 for Members/$125 for Non-Members.  For more information and to register please visit Volunteering is also a way you can help Explorit out.  Assisting with camps takes pressure off of our educators with set up and cleaning.  Helping with regular upkeep of our outdoor spaces or animal care will free up more time to develop programs and make it so our staff does not need to work six or more days a week.  If interested in volunteering contact us at or fill out an interest form at For our supporters who have Target Circle, you can vote for Explorit to receive a Nonprofit donation on the Target Circle App, or on their website at  Voting ends September 30, so get those votes in! Support through donations are also very much appreciated.  Any amount that is given can help us pay our utilities, staff, afford repairs and upkeep, or even feed our animals for the week.  To give a donation to Explorit you may send us a check at P.O. Box 1288, Davis, CA 95617 or give online at We have been serving the Davis community and surrounding areas since 1982.  We miss having school programs and want to continue providing science education to our communities after things have calmed down.  We will not be able to continue on without the support of our community members, so please give us a helping hand through these uncertain times, we appreciate any help we can get.
