Camp Descriptions

Crazy Chemistry
Explore the states of matter.  Perform simple chemical reactions to find how common substances change.
Earth Advocates
We only have one planet, and there is no planet B, so we need to work together to save the Earth.  Come to Explorit and learn about some of the many things we can all do to make a difference in saving the Earth.  We're all in this together, so let's join forces.  Become an Earth Advocate!
Everyday Engineering
Learn about everyday simple machines and how they are used.  Build arches, bridges, and buildings to see how the engineering is different between them.
Fall and Winter Gardening
Come explore all of the amazing food that we can grow through the Fall and Winter here in zone 9.  Learn how you can grow new food from things that are already in your pantry or refrigerator.  The more food you grow the less you have to buy, so it's good for saving money, and growing your own food is great for the planet.
Fall into Animals
Come explore what the animals at Explorit, and in Mace Ranch Park do to prepare for Fall and Winter.  Do they hibernate/migrate?  Where and how do they store food?  Are there other ways that their behaviors change?
Rocks Rock!
Discover different types of minerals that make up the rocks around the world.  Learn about the three major types of rocks, how they form, and how they can change.
To the Stars and Beyond
Explore the wonders of the universe from the sun, moon, and planets in our solar system to the stars, galaxies, and black holes in the vastness beyond in this hands-on astronomy and stargazing experience!

What to Bring, What to Wear

All programs are a hybrid of indoor table top activities and outside in our backyard with shade structures. Campers must bring their own reusable water bottle. Children will have access to water refill station all day. Face masks are required attired for all attendees.  Have children wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes. Our hands-on activities are potentially messy but always fun. Comfortable clothes are advised – and consider sending sunscreen and a hat.

Check in and Pick up

Check in begins 15 minutes prior to the beginning of camp.  Parents/guardians will sign children in at the sign-in table and provide Explorit with names of any adults who will be picking their children up during the week.

Camps end at the posted times, parents/guardians must sign out each child at the end of each day of camp.  Parents/guardians please be prepared to show your photo ID when picking up.  Parents may complete a permission slip to allow children to walk or bicycle to and from camp.

Temperature Monitoring

Campers, staff, and volunteers will be encouraged to stay home if they are sick. Temperatures of staff, volunteers, and campers will be taken daily upon arrival. Any individuals with temperatures > 100.4° F will be sent home. If an individual develops a temperature > 100.4° F during camps, he/she will be placed in an isolation area indoors with a staff member until a parent arrives. All county regulations and recommendations will be followed regarding contact tracing should COVID-19 infection occur.

 Behavior Policy

Be safe, be respectful, be responsible, have fun! All children are expected to listen to educators and assistants and to treat other children and materials with respect. Explorit may call parents during the day if a child is injured, experiencing difficulty adjusting to camp, or has been involved in an incident with another child.

Late Pick-Up Policy

A late pick up policy is enforced in all camps. Parents who are late to pick up their children after the program is over at noon will be charged the following amounts:

  • 1 - 15 minutes late: no charge
  • 16 - 30 minutes late: $10.00
  • 31 - 45 minutes late: $20.00
  • 46 minutes to 1 hour late: $30.00
  • After 1 hour late:  $50.00, and the Police Department will be notified, if parents have not already contacted program staff.

Payment is due at the time of registration. Explorit accepts Visa or Mastercard. Fees cannot be pro-rated due to absences or vacation schedules.

Waiting List

Once maximum enrollment is reached for a camp, you will be given the option to add your child to a waiting list. If space becomes available in the camp, we will contact those on the list in the order that they were originally added. If a camp is full, consider adding your child to the waiting list.

Camp registration closes one week prior to the start of each camp. Camps that do not fill to a minimum of 6 campers will be cancelled with a full refund.  Camp maximum and minimum numbers subject to change with any new health regulations from the county or state.

Member Discount

Explorit Family, Grandparent, and Circle Memberships that are current are eligible for a discount on summer camp fees. You may renew your membership or purchase a new membership before you register for camps in order to receive membership pricing.
