Group Field Trips to Explorit

Inquiry Labs

Inquiry labs help emphasize the importance of experimentation, creativity and group work to the scientific process. Inquiry Labs can be scheduled on their own or together with Discovery Lessons.

Students, in teams, face multiple open-ended challenges designed and facilitated in a way that stimulates curiosity and problem-solving skills.  All labs are aligned with state education standards.

Choose your lab from the topics below:

Electricity

Explore electricity and magnets. Learn more about flowing and static electricity by creating electrical charges, watching how they interact, and constructing circuits.

NGSS: PS2.B, PS3.A, PS3.B, PS3.D, ETS1.A, ETS1.B

Energy

Transform potential energy into kinetic energy with a series of fun science challenges. Use gravity, engineering, and imagination to propel toy cars without touching them & more.

NGSS: PS2.A, PS2.B, PS3.A, PS3.B, PS3.C, PS3.D, ETS1.A, ETS1.B, ETS1.C

Fossil Forensics
(Unavailable during Explorit Rocks!)

How can fossils help us explore the past? Learn about different kinds of fossils and use them to piece together what ancient environments could have been like.

NGSS: LS1.A, LS1.C, LS2.C, LS4.A, LS4.D, ESS1.C, ESS2.E

Remarkable Reactions

Investigate mysterious materials in our hands-on chemistry lab. Cause chemical reactions and see how things change. Make slime and fizzing concoctions as you experience the world of chemistry.

NGSS:
PS1.A: Structures and Properties of Matter:

How do particles combine to form a variety of matter one observes?

PS1.B Chemical Reactions:

How do substances combine or change (react) to make new substances?
How does one characterize and explain these reactions and make predictions about them?

Under the guidance of an Explorit educator, your students will question, investigate and discover as they enjoy a stimulating lesson and exploration of the hands-on Exhibition topic. Our interdisciplinary exhibitions are designed to strengthen and support your students' science and math education.
NGSS: LS1.A, LS1.C, LS1.D, LS2.B, LS2.C, LS2.D, LS3.A, LS3.B, LS4.A, LS4.B, LS4.C, LS4.D, ESS1.B, ESS3.C, PS2.A, PS2.B, PS3.A, PS3.B, PS3.C, PS4.B, ETS1.A, ETS1.A, ETS1.B, ETS1.C

Additionally, you can brush up on a given topic or provide your own hands-on activities with the help of our complimentary Teacher Enrichment Resource Packet.

Enhance the field trip with an Inquiry Lab or a Nature Safari experience before or after your Discovery Lesson program.

Nature Safaris

Visits to Explorit's Outdoor Spaces.

Students experience an outdoor adventure and discover the varied creatures that share Mace Ranch Park. With the help of an Explorit educator, students catch insect specimens, observe local wildlife, and learn about the roles these organisms play in the ecosystem of the park.

NGSS: LS1.A, LS1.C, LS2.A, LS2.C, LS4.C, LS4.D, ESS2.E, ESS3.A, ESS3.C

Please note: Nature Safaris take place outside regardless of weather.
