Exoplanet TOI-197.01

On March 28, a team of astronomers announced the detection of a new Saturn-size planet closely orbiting its parent non-sun star. This extra-solar or exoplanet, named TOI-197.01, was first indirectly observed by NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) and then confirmed by ground-based Stellar Observations Network Group (SONG) telescope. This is TESS's first major exoplanet find since its launch in April 2018 on a 2-year planet-hunting mission by surveying 200,000+ nearest stars.

Please join the Davis Astronomy Club on Saturday, April 6 starting at 7:30pm at the Explorit Science Center (3141 5th Street, Davis) for the discussion on exoplanets and spring night sky. Everyone is invited to the free meeting indoors, followed by a star party outdoors (weather permitting).
