CAMP POLICIES
These camps emphasize active learning through age-appropriate experiments, hands-on activities and problem-solving. Explorit’s hands-on approach to science supports formal education's NGSS and CCSS.

Explorit Science Center
What to Bring & What to Wear
Programs will alternate between our portable classroom and the Explorit's outdoor grounds. Campers will hike the grounds and snack will be held outdoors. Campers must bring their own reusable water bottle. Children will have access to water refill station all day. Face masks are available upon request but are optional depending upon CDC guidance. Have children wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes. Our hands-on activities are potentially messy but always fun. Comfortable clothes are advised – and consider sending sunscreen and a hat.
Check in & pick up
Daily check in begins at 9am and camp begins when check in is complete. Parents/guardians will sign children in at the sign-in table. An Indemnity & Authorized Pick-up Form should be filled out online when the child is enrolled for camp. All campers must have a completed and signed Indemnity & Authorized Pick-up Form prior to participation in camp. Hard copies will be available at check in by request. Camp ends at Noon. Please be prepared to pick up on time. Parents/guardians please be prepared to show your photo ID when picking up.
For pick up, parents/guardians must sign out each child at the end of each day of camp. Parents may select the option to allow children to walk or bicycle to and from camp on the Indemnity & Authorized Pick-up form .
Illness
If an individual develops a temperature > 100.4° F during camps and/or begins to feel unwell or develops symptoms of illness, a parent will be contacted and he/she will be placed in an isolation area indoors with a staff member until a parent arrives.
Behavior Policy
Be safe, be respectful, be responsible, have fun! All children are expected to listen to educators and assistants and to treat other children and materials with respect. Parents will be contacted when a behavior is serious in nature, not easily resolved, repeated, or affecting the whole camp group. If a child repeatedly demonstrates inappropriate behavior, Explorit reserves the right to remove the child from the program without a refund.
Late Pick-Up Policy
A late pick up policy is enforced in all camps. Parents who are late to pick up their children after the program is over at noon will be charged the following amounts:
1 - 15 minutes late: no charge
16 - 30 minutes late: $10.00
31 - 45 minutes late: $20.00
46 minutes to 1 hour late: $30.00
After 1 hour late: $50.00, and the Police Department will be notified, if parents have not already contacted program staff.
Registration
Registration is conducted online and payment is collected at the time of registration. Fees cannot be pro-rated due to absences or vacation schedules. Camp registration closes one week prior to the start of each camp. Camps that do not fill to a minimum of 6 campers will be cancelled with a full refund. Camp maximum and minimum numbers subject to change with any new health regulations from the county or state.
Waiting List
Once maximum enrollment is reached for a camp, you will be given the option to add your child to a waiting list. If space becomes available in the camp, we will contact those on the list in the order that they were originally added. If a camp is full, consider adding your child to the waiting list.
Member Discount
Explorit Family, Grandparent, and Circle Memberships that are current are eligible for a discount on summer camp fees. Registering for camp prior to the general public is another benefit of an Explorit membership. You may renew your membership or purchase a new membership here before you register for camps in order to receive membership benefits and pricing.
Cancellation Policy
ALL cancellations must be made in writing. You may call to indicate your desire to cancel, but bookings will NOT be cancelled until we have receive your e-mailed (explorit@explorit.org) request. ALL camp cancellations are subject to a $25 processing fee. You may cancel your camp enrollment for a refund (minus a $25 processing fee) no later than noon on the Monday 2 weeks prior to your camp. If you cancel a camp within 2 weeks of your camp, we will try to fill your space from a wait list, should one be available. If we succeed, you will receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. If we cannot fill your space, You will NOT receive a refund. No shows and day of cancellations are NOT refundable.
